COUNSELING FOR KIDS & TEENS IN INDIANAPOLIS, IN
ONLINE & IN PERSON COUNSELING IN INDY
Is Your Kid Struggling Emotionally or Behaviorally?
Have you ever worried about your kid? How they fit in at school, whether or not they’re making the right friends, or even what their long-term future may look like? If you are a parent, you can likely say “yes” to these and any number of other questions about your child. So what about when your child or teen is struggling? You see them overthinking (or underthinking!) their decisions, they’re moody or seem like they’re disconnecting from who they really are. Therapy can help get them back on track. At Indiana Counseling and Resilience Center, we specialize in therapy for children and teens, offering a safe and supportive space to navigate life’s difficulties with the guidance of a compassionate counselor for kids.
Does My Kid Need Therapy?
As a parent, it can be difficult to watch your child struggle. You may have noticed signs such as:
Increased anxiety, stress, or worry
Persistent sadness or mood swings
Difficulty managing emotions or frequent outbursts
Withdrawal from family and friends
Declining academic performance or school avoidance
Low self-esteem and lack of confidence
Changes in sleep or appetite
If any of these concerns sound familiar, therapy can provide your child with the tools they need to express themselves, build resilience, and develop healthy coping strategies.
We can help your kid meet their full potential.
MEET OUR THERAPIST FOR KIDS & TEENS!
RaAnna Tucker, LMHCA
Hello!
I am a fun and outgoing counselor for children and teens! I work with kids at their own pace, while also providing that supportive “nudge” when they aren’t using their full potential. I love helping kids take charge of their emotions so they can feel more calm, more confident and more focused on things that are important in life!
It’s normal for kids to feel a little uncertain when coming in to counseling for the first time. Although it may start this way, kids often end their first appointment with me feeling a sense of hope and excitement for improving their life! I love seeing this shift and I am so happy to have the chance to support kids and teens in Indy!
Therapy for Children and Teens Can Help Your Kid:
Feel confident and happy
Manage emotions like sadness, irritability and worry
Make healthy choices
Improve healthy relationships with family and friends
FAQ
Common Questions About Therapy for Kids and Teens
How long will my child need therapy?
It depends. Some kids have short term goals and make progress in just a few sessions, while others have more that they want to work on and engage in therapy longer. The average amount of sessions kids and teens engage in is 12 sessions.
Do You Provide Online Therapy for Kids and Teens?
Yes! While we prefer in person sessions for kids, online therapy is available for older children and teens.
Do You Provide Court Testimony or Recommendations Regarding Custody and Visitation?
No. Indiana Counseling and Resilience Center and its employees do not make recommendations regarding visitation or custody, as this is out of the scope of our training and expertise. We do not have any employees with training on parenting coordination, therapeutic visitations, etc.
When children engage in therapy, it is essential for them to have a trusting relationship with their therapist. This includes the child being able to openly share and work on their mental health goals without the content of their counseling sessions being used against them or their parent(s). If parents use their child’s mental health counseling in an effort to impact custody arrangements and/or visitation, they will irreparably damage the therapeutic relationship their child has with their therapist. In addition, this often results in the child no longer trusting mental health providers, which can decrease the likelihood that they will seek therapy if/when needed in adulthood.
Do You Provide Psychological Testing?
We do not have a psychologist on staff currently, therefore we don’t provide psychological testing. We can refer you to psychologists who provide testing if needed.
We provide mental health assessments to assess for symptoms of anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD and other mental health conditions.
Do You Provide Medication?
We do not have any prescribers on staff. Your therapist will be happy to provide you with referrals for prescribers if you would like to explore that treatment option.
